What's up?

So much going on.

Our dancing group:
*we preparing a new performance and a stand with merchandising (key rings, stickers and magnets) and souvenirs (we are sewing bags, little shamrocks with lavender filling, some embroidery bags) for a intercultural event.
*we are planning a little show influenced by peter pan. (from script, costumes, stage, sound/music and of course dances).
*we are having a workshop of 3 hours with a well known dancer in argentina.
*planning of bringing a teacher to do a workshop of welsh dances
*we are starting newbie classes
*we finally chose our practise day

My life:
*My son started kindergarden.
*I started university (need to study a lottttt)
*I am in many sewing projects
*I have to take care of my family (baby+little kid+ husband)
*we are building our house (well we actually have a constructor, but still)

----------
Although sometimes is hard to have so many things on my mind, what I find the hardest to combine is practising dance at home and my baby. As soon as she sees my dance shoes she needs me to carry her. I end up angry at her and she doesn't have any fault, then I get sad and frustrated. Sighhhhhhh

Finishing old proyects!

Well. Something epic happened today.

I went to try on the bodice of my solo dress... and. it fitted! My old pants don't fit yet but hey xD I can continue with my old lovely solo dress proyect I had to dump because I got pregnant and fat haha.

So I am pretty excited because doing ID related things just pumps me up and I end up very happy. On the other hand until July I still will be at home taking care of my baby; so besides doing an online writing course  I needed other proyects... yay! (we are also going to sew a new dress for our dancing group but that is another one!)

Oh and guess what I got the other day?? Isn't this adorable!??!

So long!

This summer's been crazy. It started with our first workshop in January and it didn't stop!

We went to the medieval event:

It was really fun !! It made us plan our medieval outfit which we designed and will be sewing soon!

We went to a really big celtic event, in a lovely wonderful place :); It was great and ended with a big bonfire where everybody put their wishes for the year; Great!

We also did a small performance with a celtic music band and we really enjoyed it.

Plus: we had 2 mini workshops of a two hand reel (performance) and a scottish dance.

Now we are planning:

*This years classes for beginners. My teacher wants to make 2 hour a week classes and If I get the chance I might open another beginner class in another town.

*St. Patrick's day: we are going to dance in one of our biggest events ever, our town's festival which is 3 days of bands, dancers, foods and crafts.

*We are going to participate in the "inmigrants" festival which includes us making a stand, dancing and promoting our classes.

Don't forget we need to learn new dances and steps, specially hard shoe.

Mom vs Dancer

Mom vs Dancer

This is my everyday struggle. And though motherhood is challenging I've found myself in a very deep hole of frustration trying to combine the things I love most, being a mother AND a dancer.

My baby is 8 months now, she is the most adorable baby ever :-) She is in a very demanding phase though, and last weeks I felt like all my energy was being drained by her.  Seriously I couldn't even go to the bathroom relaxed because if she didn't come with me (on my lap) she would scream and cry as if I was the worst mother in the whole word (and I felt like it lol). So imagine getting time to dance, imposible, the chores I had to do at home yes or yes I did them with her in the mei tai. If not I had her on my lap while watching tv, or playing with her outside, or doing anyhting I could do with her sitted (my back hurts so bad that carrying her is like a torture).

So I got really depressed, when I felt I had no energy for nothing I just took a brake and danced and I got really boosted. But now there is no room for that. I can't find more than 10 minutes to do something... the time is always short.

Last week I've been working with her so she stays playing a little while alone (well not so alone, she can still see me but at least not ON me). I know it's part of her development because every baby has a stage when he discovers he is not part of his mother and just goes crazy. And it's very hard, specially when you have something you love so much and you can't do it. Last week's dancing class I took her with my mom and she spent crying the whole hour. My mother was " I don't want to take care of her anymore", and I was "Can someone kill me please?".

Now things got better, this week class she stayed with her father OK, and I've been using some of the spare time with her playing to do some abs and excersices with my theraband to get in shape. And guess what? I don't want more Mom Vs Dancer, I want to proudly say I'm a dancing mom!!

Those moves...

Well it's been a while since I haven't practised entrechats (jump where you change feet in the air and land in the same position as you jumped).
Anyway the other day I was practising it in the air (using two chairs) and I moved really fast (well fast enough to change my feet, because I wasn't able to do that)
So today I wanted to do a little practise (though I don't like practising on my cement floor) and I was like, ok let's try to do the entrechat, guess what. I did it! Fast, lovely and effortless.
After a brake of 5 months (actually more because when I was pregnant I couldn't practise those moves) I end up doing moves I couldn't do before. Haha. I'm so excited!

Some thoughts

This saturday we went with my husband and kids to watch one of our favourite bands. While we were watching I saw the guy who plays the guitar moving his music sheet and I was: Omg, do you realize that musicians need a music sheet and we dancers just dance?

Then I got thinking of dancing as a sport and realized that  there are very few sports where you are always practising lots of different things, not just running or jumping. For dancing there are thousand combinations that can make your dance different each time. It's not only remembering them, it's printing passion in them, dancing to the beat, it's smiling, putting all your heat into it and looking effortless. In what other sport you do that? It's creating music with your feet... all that is Irish Dancing. Unique and complex, that's why I LOVE IT!!

By the way this is the band that brought me this thoughts!!

Lovely music!!!

My son is turning 3 years old soon!

Birthday Tickers from WiddlyTinks.com

I found those tickers and countdowns from Widdly Tinks adorable so I couldn't help it and made one. (So cute!)
We are planning to do his party on a playground, I still have to call there to see if we have room.  Also I have to think what food we are serving, my plan was to make healthy snacks like: dehidrated banana, algarroba cookies made with organic flour, the cake will be unhealthy sugary thing because my mother in law always buys a big super cake for bdays, coconut cookies, popcorn  and I can't think anymore right now.

For the drinks I was going to ask my aunt for the juice maker machine and make some apple juice from the apples I have at home, also cranberry juice. And nothing else, I know it seems so little but seriously kids are not interested in eating, they just want to play around. Some alcohol free beers for adults and we are done! Oh and peanuts, almonds and nuts ;-)

Un-Active?

Yesterday I went to my dancing lessons. An  hour later I had almost every leg muscle soaring (and it is a 2hour class), and they still do.

Why? Seriously, I don't know... maybe it's the cold weather, or maybe I was a little too enthusiast about my dress and should have done a little bit more of physical activity. Maybe a week between my dancing classes is a little bit too much and  I should practice twice a week. I will try to start practicing on my own on fridays or at least try to.

Another thing I notice is that I totally forgot is about ab work, Ive been so busy in everything else that I completely forgot about my routine. And it seems human body is so lazy that if you forget for a little period of time of a physical activity you have to start from scratch like if you had never in your hole life made it before. That is really frustrating but, for the sake of my dancing I should start with that routine as soon as possible.

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Oh well I know its late but, I hope you all Irish fans enjoyed it !!!

EISTEDDFOD

The Eisteddfod is a traditional Welsh festivity that includes music, dancing and poetry. The word Eisteddfod means "To be sit". The festivity is hold in Whales, Australia and Argentina. I am gonna talk a bit about the argentinean one.
The Argentinean government gave the opportunity to the welsh community to establish themselves in a new place where they wouldn't be judged by their religion, costumes or language. Lewis Jones and Edwyin C. Roberts prepared all burocratic issues before the first boat arrived to Argentina, in 1865. Since then they have nurtured their culture and kept it alive.
The Eisteddfod is hold in Trevelin (Town), Gaiman (town), Puerto Madryn (city) and Trelew(city). Gaiman and Trevelin are the biggest references of welsh towns in Argentina. Trelew is a big city where the most important Eisteddfod is hold, in October. Though the city itself isn't a pure and exclusive welsh place, it is influenced by Gaiman that is next to it. Puerto Madryn is a city by the sea, also influenced a bit by the welsh culture.

This is the welsh flag! A dragon ! how cool is that haha!

Ostara

Spring comes, bright colors emerge from everywhere you see. Beautiful, close your eyes and smell.
Flowers? So sweet. A mix of peach and apple scent makes you take a deep breath. Then you hear the birds singing, they are playing below the rising sun. You lay down over the grass and you are in peace. Who would have imagined that the collision of million of years and events will end up to this magical moment?

Fresh new start

Hi there!! Well this is akward. It's been a while since I last put myself to writing. As everything its an excersice that requires practise.

As I just wrote in my "about me" section this blog will try to show you in different ways my interests. I plan to introduce you to my little home projects and write articles, gather information, show you pictures. Anything that helps me share you the experience I got so far. Of course they will exist people that know more, that are more instructed, and I am eager to read their experiences too. That's the only way we can grow. I hope I find people that love the things I love as me and we enjoy them together.
